In this short assignment, you will make a costume/wearable sculpture. There are only 2 rules to this project:
1. You must forefront one element or principle of design.
Elements: Form, Space, Line, Light, Color, Time, Texture
Principles: Rhythm, Repetition, Scale/Proportion, Variety, Emphasis, Economy, Balance
2. You must not work with pre-made characters.
Extra credit will be given for any images of you wearing the sculpture at a haloween party, and more extra credit for winning a costume contest.
Use the techniques we have studied, as well as one I will demo in class. Make good use of your glue guns and found materials from the thrift store. Have fun with this, it can be abstract, representational, silly, serious, absurd or any combination thereof, but it must bring out the chosen element or principle.
Your work can take the form of a mask, appendage, or full body costume.
Materials can include, but are not limited to:
- Cardboard
- Paper
- String
- Wood
- Wire
- Bamboo
- Plastic
- Found objects like toys, sporting goods, clothes, party supplies etc.
