Visual Voices Lecture Series Fall 2019
Visual Voices is a year-long series of lectures by artists, art historians and others
about contemporary art and art practice. Visual Voices lectures are held on
Thursday evenings from 7:20- 9:00 p.m. in Harris Theater: http://soa.gmu.edu/visualvoices/
For Brian Davis’ Sculpture 1 and 3D 1 classes, you must attend 1 visual voices lecture and write a 500 word response to what you saw. Please don’t just restate what the artist said, describe what was interesting to you and what the artist said that relates to your work in my classes.
You will post this response with a selfie on a site that I am building, more info on that forthcoming……
Here is the list of dates and artists
September 5, 2019 Buzz Spector “Buzz Spector: I stack things. I tear stuff up”
September 26, 2019 Tom Ashcraft “Workingman Collective: Navigating a Collaborative Practice
October 10, 2019 Kristine Potter “Mythologizing America”
October 24, 2019 Daniel Wickersham and Malcolm Lomax “Supplementals, Collective Consciousness, and Communicable Diseases”
Location of lectures:
If you cannot make any of the lectures, you need to write a 500 word response to an exhibition in the gallery, noting which works display and forefront what elements and principles.
