1 Minute Sculptures
In this short project, you will use common materials and yourselves to make sculptures inspired by the work of Erwin Wurm.
“The idea is for you to exist in this dimension — as an art object yourself — only at
this one time,” he explained. “I am giving ‘sculpture’ a participatory, temporal
factor.” Erwin Wurm
For this work, find a partner and some objects. You and your partner will make 7 “1 minute sculptures” the exemplify action words of Richard Serra Think about novel and subtle ways you can incorporate the words into your photos.

A few tips:
The sculptures should be ambiguous. Don’t try to make it look like something has happened. Stay away from puns.
Use simple objects in novel ways, and focus on the physicality of the sculpture. Uncomfortableness can be a really interesting dynamic.
Shoot your photos on a simple background, and get extraneous information out of the frame. Use portrait mode to blur the background.
Upload instructions:
All work should be turned in to the class OneDrive folder. You will receive a link in an email.
You must rename your files like this:
“Lastname Firstname-Action” so it will look like this
Davis Brian-To Twist
After renaming your videos, upload them to the link you received in your email. You should not have to sign in or anything. Make siure your videos have uploaded before you close the browser window! This is easier to do on a computer, but it is possible to do only on mobile. See me for instructions.
